Ann Swingler

Ann Swingler’s work incorporates mixed media collages and photographic encaustic work. Ann’s process begins by creating a small collage box from dried botanicals and layering them between glass. Photographic images are glued to a wooden panel, delicately embellished with color pencil and oil pastels before a final layer of encaustic wax is applied. Her work she describes emerged from "decades of walking receptively, without agenda or expectations, foraging, gardening, and praying, quietly." Her intent is to support all those who give back to the Earth, who "appreciate its preciousness and hold vigil for its healing."

"The beauty, awe, and wonder I see in nature encompasses life and death as holy, including all withered and battered states in between."
