After years working in the furniture and interiors industry, Joshua Vogel created Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. (BCMT) alongside his partner, Kelly Zaneto, as a way to explore small-scale product, furniture design and manufacturing, and to reconnect with the practice and idea of crafting handmade "cottage industry" goods.

Joshua launched an heirloom-quality furniture line and a collection of everyday objects under BCMT, crafted from sustainably sourced American hardwoods and natural materials, using traditional methods and time-honored finishes, while also maintaining a distinct custom furniture practice following the same principles.

All of BCMT's products are made by people right here in our Kingston, New York, studio... lovingly, and with care. We believe that through the open sharing of skills and by encouraging our employees to both learn and create, we can grow together through the pursuit of excellence.

BCMT Studio strives daily to get closer in understanding to the elements of our craft, not further removed. We seek to connect good ideas with great materials through simple processes that, in turn, connect our customers directly to the essence of the work. In an effort to stay true to our original intention, we have expanded our business the only way we felt was right; by opening a gallery and representing artworks at the intersection of fine art and craft, creating a dialogue across different fields.

BCMT Gallery is an artist-forward gallery championing craft and the processes and people behind it, representing work from a collective of artists seeking expression through the investigation of the elemental. Collectively, these works set forth a meeting of texture, form, and intention, weaving in and out of tradition while offering a distinct vision of the natural world and our place within it.
