After years working in the furniture and interiors industry Joshua Vogel created Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. (BCMT) as a way to explore small scale product design and manufacturing, and to reconnect himself with the practice and idea of crafting handmade goods. All of BCMT's products are made by people right here in our Kingston, New York studio...lovingly, and with care.

We strive daily to get closer in understanding to the elements of our craft, not further removed. We seek to connect good ideas with great materials through simple processes that, in turn, connect our customers directly to the essence of the work.  After taking an eight year hiatus from furniture, Joshua launched a collection of pieces under BCMT utilizing this same ideology.

We believe that through an open sharing of skills and encouraging our employees to both learn and create, we can grow together through the pursuit of excellence. The goal of our work is to create enduring, beautiful, and functional objects that you will love to use as much as we love to make . . . from our hands to yours. In an effort to stay true to our original intention, we have expanded our business the only way we felt right, which is to open a "gallery" and represent the high craft works of other artists/craftspeople.

BCMT Gallery is an artist-forward gallery championing craft and the processes and people behind it. The gallery represents work from a collective of artists seeking expression through the investigation of the elemental. Collectively, these works set forth a meeting of texture, form, and intention, weaving in and out of tradition while offering a distinct vision of the natural world and our place within it.
